"Overnight Apple French Toast Casserole

Recipe from "Cranberry Manor Bed and Breakfast"

The innkeeper at Cranberry Manor Bed and Breakfast made this for the guests.  Its a great fall dish.  One guest hadn’t returned till 10 years later and requested his favorite dish he just couldn’t forget having during his last stay this quaint little bed and breakfast in the Poconos.  Its made up the night before and popped in the oven in the morning.    

Preheat Oven:  350

Prep Time:  20 Minutes

Serves: 6 – 8

Cook Time: about 1 hour

Ingredients:

12 Eggs

1/2 Cup of Butter Melted

1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar

1 Loaf of Cinnamon Raisin Bread

1/2 Cup of Sugar

1 Tsp Vanilla Extract

4 Cups of Milk

6 Granny Smith Apples (our your choice of apples), Peeled, Cored and Sliced.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a 8 x 6 Glass Pyrex Dish or cake pan, pour melted butter and sprinkle brown sugar on top.

Alternate layers of bread and layers of apples sprinkling cinnamon on top of the apple layers. 

Mix eggs, milk, and sugar and vanilla and pour over top of bread and apples.

Cover and Refrigerate overnight.  

Bake Uncovered in 350 degree over for about 1 hour until firm, about 1 hour.

We serve with a side of sausage links and scrambled eggs.  Enjoy and Share!
